PALACIOS SITES | Palacios, Texas is located right in the heart of the Texas Gulf Coast overlooking the beautiful Tres Palacios Bay. Palacios (Spanish for palace) is 110-miles southwest of Galveston and 110-miles northeast of Corpus Christi. With a population of approximately 5,000, Palacios is the second largest city in Matagorda County and is the Shrimp Capital of Texas.
The tranquil community is a favorite for tourists from all over the country who enjoy its palm-tree line bayfront, many parks, fishing and boating activities as well as its year-round beautiful, mild weather. It is renowned among birdwatchers for its variety of bird species. A seawall walkway along the bayshore is the ideal place for a leisurely stroll while adjoining fishing piers offer the perfect spot for anglers to try their skills. A beach area allows for swimming and for sunbathing. Several bed & breakfast establishments, as well several RV parks and the historic Luther Hotel offer a range of accommodations.
